Ebony Academy Rules

1.) No Cannon Characters! This means no Harry, no Ron, no Hermione, no Bella, no Sirius, no Remus, nobody from the books at all. This is ten years after the final battle. Many, many died and those who haven't are still living in England. (this is America remember?) Try to stay away from children of cannons as well.

2.) In regards to crossovers (meaning mixing other books or movies with HP) I'm not going to ban them. However, please don't be ridiculous. You can be an elf from Lord of The Rings but don't even try to submit a character profile for Spiderman.

Please run your ideas by myself or another moderator.

3.)Characters can fight.....but let's not let things boil over shall we? Just because your character isn't getting along with theirs doesn't mean we need to start a PM war. In short, there is a separation of character and human. On the subject of arguments....

4.)It's perfectly normal for characters not to get along or even for whole groups to dislike eachother. However, this doesn't mean you can go serial killer on eachother. ::)

5.) Language. Let's keep it as clean as we can. I don't just mean swear words. (this board is set up so they'll be edited automatically) Don't make overly rude or insulting remarks. It's just not nice.

6.) As far as relationships go....I'm not saying your character can't have a boyfriend or girlfriend but keep the rating PG-13 or below!

7.) Absolutely no god-modding! For those of you who might not be familiar with this term it bascially means be your own character. Don't say "so and so" walks into the room or "so and so" says this if you don't play "so and so"!

8.) OK, here we go...I'm tackling the ever-an-issue topic of special abilities. If it's something small like a really good singing voice or being particularly good at charms then feel free to add it to your profile. Anything bigger must be run by me or a mod first. In your PM you must include an explanation as to why your character should have or would like to have this power. And it has to be more than "because it's cool". ::)

9.) No Mary Sues. For those of you who are right now wondering why I don't like the name Mary Sue, let me explain. A "Mary Sue" is a fanfiction term. It refers to a perfect character (most often female but guys can be Mary Sues as well) who does nothing wrong looks absolutely beautiful all the time and has everyone drooling at their feet. Most of the time this isn't a rule included on a RP site but as I'm an avid fanfiction writer I can't stand to see a good "fic" (becasue that's really what a RP is, a FF written by many people) ruined by one of those perfect "Mary Sues". All people have flaws, it makes life more dramatic.

10.) No SPAM. SPAM, for those of you who don't know means Stupid Pointless Annoying Message. Really. No joke. That's what it means. Aaand I think that makes this rule fairly self explainatory. I'm not setting a minimum sentence ammount per post like other sites (I know sometimes they have to be short) but let's not type "she laughed" and hit submit.

11.)You are more than welcome to create multiple characters (in fact I encourage you to), but you must make a separate account for each. This makes it far less confusing for everyone. Also, there’s no set limit on how many characters you can make but let’s not get carried away. Three or four is fine (if you can keep up with them all) but ten is a little unreasonable.

12.) One more quick rule! Actually it's more like an FYI... roleplays can be opened in absolutely any board except classrooms and the Sorting Test room. Post all over the place!

These are just overall board rules. Teachers and Heads of Houses will post their own rules as they see fit.
